Colours of autumn

This is a weed which grows rife over my whole garden at this time of the year, but I really don't mind, I think it's such a gorgeous colour!

I cant make it out clearly Helen, but if its seriously invasive-it may be 'Japanese knotweed' which is very hard to erradicate and there are strict laws on its disposal.

Don't frighten me like that Steve!!!!! Definitely NOT that

It's a large leafed type of ivy, and it crawls mostly along the ground and up in all the trees and shrubs. I will try and get a close-up of the actual ivy tomorrow (coz it's dark now!!!) and see if anyone recognises it. It's been around for years in my garden, and I usually pull it all out when it starts about end of July, but sometimes I leave it coz it goes such a brilliant red before it just dies off, and it really does die, all the stems go dark brown and dried up. It's quite spectacular isn't it - maybe it's not a weed and I should culture it!!

All my garden plants love me they grow like mad, don't ask me why Probably coz I just leave them alone. If I bring a plant INTO the house though, it's instant death for them I'm afraid. I bought some climbing plants for our new car port about 6 weeks ago, and already they've gone bananas climbing all over it, and they're all different with lovely flowers, I just threw them in big pots with some compost and away they went!

I think I'll go and pull a bit off and photograph it under the light, we might get a better idea then, but it looks and sounds like that virginia creeper Trouble, and it certainly does creep, but everywhere, I even have to pull it up from the lawn as it's creeping underneath the grass!

This bit is just turning to the bright red, but it was the nearest bit!
