Simple task snowballs...

Having stripped off the horrible peeling wallpaper in the bathroom I have concluded that, even with the ginormous cracks that the wallpaper was put there to hide, what's really letting it down is the dodgy tile paint covering the 1930s tiles. So even before filling the cracks, I have got hold of some water-based paint stripper and am doing a couple of test patches

I am quite prepared to uncover damaged tiles and horrible grout, but I can no longer live with the blue tiles and badly stencilled angelfish. Anyway, it would be crazy to take off the original tiles without even seeing what condition they're in. I'm just praying that they weren't sanded...

Anybody got any experience with this kind of thing?

Hah! It worked pretty well on my test patches, and I only left it for about 45 minutes. Will have to go get some clingfilm so I can leave it for hours and hours. Going to do it in stages, over the bath first
