As you said 99% of all accidents are preventable where i work we want it 100% as our clients come under our FAW when in our care.
If you actually attended a canine first aid course you would not have to imagine anything would you?

I think you will find that most firms take a very serious view of the ability to to respond to an incident.

And what weekly ongoing house training do you do to maintain the skills, knowledge, ability, training and experience of your First Aiders?

Perhaps I can learn from your firm's excellent example.

What does this programme consist of? Who is the provider? How many hours does this weekly training take?

Please do share.

I am afraid First Aid has NOTHING to do with preventing accidents does it!

First Aid only becomes necessary AFTER the fact, so all the FA training in the world will not prevent accidents, incidents or near misses.

All employers have a duty of care to their employees and anyone who may be affected by their acts and omissions, thus for example our FAW may have to respond to colleagues, contractors, visitors and customers.

But I would really like to know what your weekly programme is of training as this is the first time I have heard of any business doing this (apart from very specialised circumstances).

Your business is no doubt one of the recipients of a ROSPA or British Safety Council awards for innovation and training?

yes our training is way above someone like yourselves and we pride ourselves on that, as a first aider i always promote good practice from clients and colleagues, we train basically daily on defib and first aid with resus being constantly imprinted, we are all defib and FAW trainer/assessor qualified and all training is logged, defib has to be an ongoing trained process or the qualification becomes void, 10 sessions per year i believe obviously we do a lot more than that.
First aid response is a mindset and repetition will give you the ability to act in line with current guidelines or i will be explaining why i did not follow my EAP to the coroner or indeed judge
We do not have anything from ROSPA or the British Safety Council as our training is pretty standard.
Sadly i find the HSE very out of touch to be honest and i was hoping the current government was going to get rid in the bonfire of the QUANGOS speech and replace it with a fresh new body who are not so dinosaurial, i do find a lot of HSE staff to be well disinterested obviously not yourself as you seem to be a very balanced, non judgemental and open to suggestions kind of a person.
