Night time with pups...

Roughly how often should an 8 week old puppy be let out during the night? Should they only be taken out when they are whining?

With Raina we have paper in the bedroom for her to pee on as she doesnt let us know yet she wants to wee wee. We go to be about 10:30/11ish wake up at 3am to put her out and then we are up at 6:30am there is often 1 wee on the paper.

Not sure how it works with crate trainning as none of ours are crate trained.

Is this for a Lab pup?

I personally only did one outside trip during the night with my Slovak, and only for the first week or two. When she was 12 weeks should could hold it overnight for about 5 hours, then 6 hours by about 14-15 weeks, now at 22 weeks she can go for 8 hours if she has to.

Many of our puppies needed a middle of the night trip outside. They would wake us by whining in the crate. Some set an alarm and take the puppy out. Some of our puppies needed the middle of the night trip for a couple of weeks. A few almost made it clear through the night even at 7 weeks.
