HIP SCORING/ELBOW SCORING(on the cheap)

Well just before Christmas I had taken two of my young Mastiffs to get this done,well to be honest after having had the young male Byron done,and vet charged me just over £500.00 I nearly passed out,so at that time could not afford to do the pair at same time,now a lot of people have been saying I was ripped off,and must say I do kind of agree,last scores I had done two years before came to £280.00 in total,which I was faily happy with,but having just used the same vet, and for it to have rocketed so much,(practise has changed hands)was wondering who has used the lady in Southampton,what were your experiences,and most of all "HOW MUCH" whilst I will if I have to,take bitch to usual vets for scoring I feel I have to at least look into other practises,or am I just being mean and tight fisted,gulp,oh yes,and who has her number???????

no,not medivet,but a vet that used to work for our old guy,
but must say was really shocked,and told her so,she just did the oh,expenses of running a practise,etc,

Doesn't supprise mine cost just over £200 for a 31kg dog and from what I can see your dogs are pretty big too. I know some places charge £160 for the same weight.

my vet charges about £90 for a springers hips depending on the weight of the dog and that includes the BVA. He also uses the anaestetic where you inject them to bring them round as well its a very low dose.
£500 sounds an awful lot to me.

I had mine last one done under sedation at Mike Linguards near Preston, it cost for both hips + elbows £138.18 plus BVA £58.80, my own vet does it under General and cost £250 + BVA costs, my dog weighs approx 41kg as he is oversize for his breed.
There is one in Southampton (Maralyn) who does under sedation and untill I found the one in Preston I was going to go as it still would have been cheaper than my own vets including travel costs, plus theese vets have loads of experience as they do hips/elbow xrays several times a week on loads of dogs, there is also one near Crewe/Nantwich area that specialises and uses sedation rather than GA, to me even though you have a large breed it sounds as if you were overpriced.

Hello everyone, and thanks for answering,well, am really having problems trying to get the number of Marilyn,the Southampton lady that does scoring,so any of you got her number there seems to be some sort of secret society,whereby everyone knows her and uses her,but no one will give me the number,someone lovely in leo's told me to go on their web site yesterday,but had mega difficulties joining,so am back to square one,

do you mean marilyn in southampton?
I wouldnt use anyone else but her and her team now

I last had occasion to hip score a year ago and it cost me 75 ukp or thereabouts.
If no one has done so already i will pm her number to you - she isnt happy about it being put on public forums.
