Very proud of Lily

Most of you know about my sister and will also know that I'm a little stressed at the moment. (understatement of the year!!) I know that can go through to the dogs and change their behaviour too.

Last year, Lily had a horrible run up to her 2nd season, a horrible season and then a horrible phantom pregnancy. A few nasty interactions with small female dogs left her with an intense dislike of small female dogs, particularly white ones, and she would display this by pinning them down and making a hell of a noise. She never hurt them and I managed her by putting her on lead if I saw any small dogs or if I couldn't see what was ahead.

She was spayed last month and of course I had my lovely little foster girl Daisy, a small white female, who I think worked wonders on Lily. I still don't trust her though and there are certain dogs that I won't let her meet offlead, just in case.

Tonight on our walk, we bumped into Daisy and her and Lily took off like a pair of rockets charging around the field and having a wonderful time. Another female, smallish collie, joined them and a female cocker who Lily used to adore. I had called Lily back initially and then assessed her attitude which was calm and relaxed.

Despite my anxiety and possible over reaction to other dogs. (I sound like the one with a problem hey!) She has definitely relaxed and her recall is brilliant which helps me relax (a bit). I don't say she is 100% trustworthy and I will never drop my guard as that is when something could happen. But I was so proud of her tonight as although her mum is struggling, she is being a little star.

I know, it sounds mad but she was looking at me as if to say 'look mum, bet you never thought you'd see this!'

Oh don't they!! I know how horrible I feel once a month so poor Lily really went through the ringer. It makes me so happy to see that she is enjoying herself and not stressing out.

Awwww, bless her for making your day like that, she knows the stress you're already under Claire, so she doesn't want to make things worse. Being a mini gsd she's well clued up on picking up on you of course!!! Give her a big hug from Auntie H and Zena sends lots of xxxxxx to you both.
