Jake & Charlie's Doggie Diary... 18th Dec 06

BRIMOND HILL

It was a cold morning, even we didn't want to get up and go out today. There was white stuff all over the ground, we thought it was that snow stuff that Dad had been going on about but no, he said it was called frost. Whatever it was it wasn't very nice to squat on I can assure you.

Dad gave us breakfast then we headed off in the car. We drove for quite a long time till we came into some woods. Thats when we really started to get excited. I knew we were going for our walk, why else would we be in the middle of nowhere. We parked up the car and soon we were off. It was a great place to walk, we started off walking through woods, quite a lot like the other place we sometimes go. We ran about and searched for a nice stick to carry then fought over it. Dad thinks it's funny that we fight over a stick in the middle of a forest but hey it's the principle. Anyway eventually we agreed to share.

As we walked on we eventually came out of the forest and were on a hill. It was nice there and you could see for miles. The path was a little frosty but we couldn't really feel the cold now coz we were too busy having fun. We carried on along the path, getting higher and higher up the path as we went then stoped near the top so Dad could have a coffee. Claire was with us too but she had been complaining about her boots being rubbish. Dad said he's gonna buy her some for Christmas, hmmm I thought Santa did that.

At the top of the hill we could see all around. We played while Dad drank his coffee. Claire tried hiding from us in the trees but we found her easily. The veiws were great from up there and we could see another hill called Banachie. Dad said he will take us there at the weekend, it looks fantastic.

Soon we started to make our way back down the hill. We walked along the path, well Dad and Claire did, we ran and played and jumped around. The path gradually took us back down into the forest. There hadn't been much in the way of muddy puddles, think the frost had put paid to that. So it looked like Dads car was gonna be spared the mess. Or so we thought.... Just as we were almost done our walk we managed to find one. Dads moans of "oh no!!" had no effect, and soon we were covered in mud.

Dad moaned about the mess but he was no better, he had mud splashes over his trousers. Ok it was us that put it there but he still has a cheek moaning about our mess. Anyway off we went back down the hill. We came to another opening and decided it was our turn to hide from Dad. We waited till he called us a couple times then came running up.

Soon we were back through the last little bit of forest and back to the car. We were looking forward to making a mess but it's not easy when your stuck in the back with a big cage thing stopping ya from getting on the seats.

Had been a long walk, but it was great fun. We drove home then Dad gave us both a treat for being good. We drank some water then got comfy on the sofa. Ahhhh time for a snooze....

Aww, what little sleepy heads you are, not suprising with all that running about. Looks like you had a lovely day and what a posh car you've got. I wonder what you're dreaming about boys, probably sticks and mud, two of your favourite things. x

Jake and Charlie are looking so grown up now. Looks beautiful where they went for their walk, you're so lucky to have such nice places to walk.

Nice story Ian, and very nice scenery, very similar to ours. We live in the forrest so the dogs only have to go out the side gate and they are off chasing deer trails and polecats and sometimes wild pig. Lovely dogs and it's just heart warming to see them sleeping under that flag. Ours are long haired and they don't much like having a blanket over them.......too hot
