what do you class as a big dog / small dog

what do you feel is a big dog, whats a small dog,

after looking at some threads where big dogs are brought up and some members asked, what in your eyes is a big dog, I thought it would be intresting to hear what members classed as big and what they thought was small.

for me, collies are the middle ground, anything under that is small, anything over is going towards big.

I always think of collie's as being small to medium and GR's labs, rotties etc., as medium and anything else newfies, bernese, dobes etc., as large.
Great danes etc., as giant breeds.

its intresting, the bigger the dog someone has the more they see other dogs as small,

im guessing many people with staffies think they have a medium sized dog, where as I see it as a smaller dog.

Lynn sees rotties as medium, but people with toy breeds see them as massive,

I guess if you added weight to it, things would be diff,

I see staffies as small too, must be like you say because we own bigger dogs we think everything else is small.

Thing is people say Ollie is huge but we don't see him that way, we class him as medium but he is really a large breed
and Ollie is a big dog for his breed

I`m always surprised when someone says Daisy is big because I think of her as fairly small (for a Shepherd).
I tend to think of bulk rather than height - Bernese are big - they take up so much room. And boisterous dogs seem big.
Labs down are medium
Westies down are small.

I know when Hali first met the rotties, she didnt really think they were big dogs as such, but she did think the head was massive, lol

Hmmm.....
Anything up to a collie size is small (that includes terriers, spaniels etc)
Collie, labs etc are medium.
Rotties, Dobes, Bullmastiff, Boxers, and anythign else 'tall' are large.
Great Dane, St Bernard etc are giant

i think i am agreeing with most collie and below smallish and anything above bigger.

HOwever when it comes to staffies, boxers etc I wouldnt class them as small dogs as they are strong so for me its pulling power has a lot to do with it too.

woudlnt recommend someone who wanted a smaller dog a staffie - as they may be smaller but they are very strong...
