Mg

Poor people- news says they are going to close- and theres so many people who were employed there

having been through two redundancies from big major multi national companies (who are still making millions in profits I might add) I really feel for them

I feel sorry for all the employees who are going to be out of a job, especially seeing as it looks like they are going to get substandard redundancy packages.

But I think Rover is going to quietly disappear forever.

The sad thing is the management will all come away with nice rosey packages, walk into another exec job somewhere and I'm sure they managed to unload their shares and options in time.

If Rover is the last pinnicle of the British motor industry well i'm sorry we're better off without a motor industry.
It's obviously not worth saving as a commercial business or someone would have stepped in and bought it.

And No I certainly don't think the government should plough £100M into it to save it.

My 2p worth

HI all this is close to home and I went on the "save Rover" rally/walk a few years ago. However the factory has come to the end of its time - sad to say - but as Pete has said investment in the product is whats missing.

And its more the small companies that supply Rover round here than Rover who suffer and have been waiting/supplying Rover at cut costs etc rather than make redundancies - they are now against the wall themselves. -All sad

Well I'm absolutely fuming over it!!
I blame a few people for it but won't mention all of them. The 3 I'll happily mention is the presenters of Top Gear beause they were forever critising MGR (MG Rover). There was a quote that one of said was very critising. Here it is 'Well there's no reason to laugh a Volvo drivers anymore, we've got Rover drivers for that' . How childish and sad is that?! OK Maybe other Car companies have critised i.e Honda, Vauxhall but they can take that. It's like going up to Lennox Lewis and giving him a punch he can take that. Like cars like Honda and Vauxhall. MGR on the other hand were weak. It's like going up to a bloke who's just been beaten up and giving him a punch, he wouldn't take it. Like MGR. Well the Top Gear people certainly weren't helping.
People even say that MGs and Rovers are grandads cars. Well let me tell you this. My car can go faster than quite a few BMWs. If the MGR cars are a grandads car, they're saying BMWs are a grandads car.
Sorry for ranting on like this it's just I'm so MAD!!
