it does look like a weed

errr..... a weed is simply a plant in the wrong place. Let's not be derogatory!

Off now to apply flame thrower to four foot high nettles in the wrong place - my garden!

That is a lovely looking plant. We have wild orchids here, alpine strawberries and honeysuckle in all the hedgerows. There is a kind of minature orchid growing in the garden, I will put up a pic later to see if anyone can identify it.

Couldn't have put it better myself Gill. My gardening theory is this, if I like it it stays, if I don't, it goes!! Just thought it was unusual so I kept it and have moved it twice so it must want to stay here and the bees like it too, so it earns its keep.

I think I've seen these on my morning walk up on the Downs, if I remember the camera tomorrow I will take some pics, in which case they are weeds, oops sorry, wild flowers!

Here's my mystery flower, it grows wild here. I am very close to bogland which I know attracts all kinds of rare wild flowers but I am by no means an expert. The flower heads are about a quarter of an inch long and orchid style, to use a non-botanical term! It may not be rare, but it certainly didn't grow in Essex and I like it!

It seems that this is a Dactylorliza Fuchsii, or Common Spotted Orchid.

Grows all over the place here, but esp. on limestone.

Its very pretty Gill, I love those tiny wildflowers that don't look like much until you get close up to them and see all the detail.

Might be as common as bugle, or a nettle relative? ?the hairy stem if it's an orchid......but then I'm no expert.
Bet there's a website somewhere but I'm not sure how you'd make a start with identifications - colour/height/habitat etc?
