Can you run a fridge off an extension?

I am thinking about getting a small 6 litre one for my bedroom, but where it would be, it would have to go into an extension socket!

Would that be okay?

Not much else would be run off it, straighteners and stuff, the one thing that does bother me is a hair dryer... as I know they are bad for blowing things up

That or I plug it into the other extension which only has an alarm clock on it at the moment...

Do you mean an extension lead or a two-way adapter in the socket?

Actual extension lead

Yeah I wasn't sure if it would be okay, hence asking!

My kitchen fridge used to be plugged into an extension lead when this house was being gutted, didn't have any problems with it. I wouldn't used a two-way adapter tho.

It is an actual extension lead, and would be a small fridge (not sure how much difference that makes? lol)

It wouldn't always be turned on as it wouldn't need to be, if I was going anywhere and anything needed to stay chilled I would put it in the main fridge and unplug the small one, but wasn't sure if that was even okay lol

You can get extension leads with surge protectors I would think one of these would be okay.

If you mean a 2ft, 3ft or 4ft length of wire that plugs in and has 4 sockets on a big plastic bit the other end then yes that'll be ok, they're a lot, lot safer than an adaptor, BUT, if you mean an extention lead which is on a wheel type thingy with the wire all rolled up, then that's a big no, no, coz the wire has to be ALL uncoiled first otherwise it heats up and ....... poof!
