What's on your dog's ID tag?

My TZBCs don't get much opportunity nowadays to go roaming somewhere where they could get lost, but, nevertheless, they have their ID tags (microchipping is a bit of a new idea up here! ).

Kali's has his name, his address and my mobile number.

Snorri's has the same, but he carries a second tag, with the message "I need epilepsy tablets twice a day", and the vet's number on the back - which is a "second line of attack" for getting him back - any enquiry to the vet would set a recovery in motion, because, even here in the TZ, epileptic, blue-eyed Border Collies aren't very common. I'm pleased to say that our vet surgery is extremely good at recognising and remembering its clients!

Thank you!

We have OUR SURNAME, Mobile Number/Home Name and postcode on the other side plus I AM CHIPPED

I didn't put the dogs names because then they could easily become their friends - well that's what I was told in a pet shop once!

Hope that the I AM CHIPPED will put some people off theft?

None of mine have their names on their ID Tags, just my phone number

Simple reason, I was always told by my grandfather never to put your dogs name on the tags as theres a possibility that they could get harboured by other people if they knew their names

i never really get why people say this? If your dogs going to get stolen, it will get stolen no matter if their name is known or not!

Mine just have their name and my phone number. No tag though, it's embroidered on their collars.

In Snorri's case, the "I need epilepsy tablets twice a day" is likely to put people off stealing him, I hope! Even in this day and age, there are folk who regard epilepsy as "demonic possession" and who wouldn't want to steal a "demon dog"!

I still think it's best not to place names on ID Tags, but each to their own and whatever works for them and the safety of their dogs
