I clean all wounds with sterile saline (in pods) and if I put on anything at all it would be something like Quistel, or First Essential by Hilton Herbs.

Make up a solution of saline (salt & water) in warm but not hot water & gently cleanse the wound & matting. Bathing will help the matted hair - what is it matted with - blood? Pus?

How did your dog get hurt or is there any chance it could be a hot spot?

If its pus that has matted the hair, it may be better to get the vet to check it over

hi what is a "hot spot". i have no idea how she got the injury. it dose`nt slow her down she is not ill or anything like that, eating and drinking as normal. it looks like blood and pus that as matted her fair. i thought origonaly it was chewing gum or some thing, but as i brushed it, it stared to bleed, not a lot but there was still blood there. it does`nt hurt her or bother her when i go near it bri.

If there is pus you need to keep a close eye as it can lead to infection, keep it very clean - bathe twice a day with saline & then apply something to help the wound heal - whatever you decide to use. If no impovement always better to seek advice of the vet
