Rescue Harrier Hound

I am about to invite a Rescue Harrier Hound into my home to join our family, he is around 3 years old and was found starving and roaming the streets of Dublin - I hope that after such a terrible start to life that we can give him a loving and happy home to settle in. My biggest worry is that I have a cat and she is 3 years old, she doesn't have much experience of dogs and I want to be very careful when I introduce them so that at worst, they tolerate each other and at best, become friends. The harrier (Scooby) has a very soft and submissive nature so I am hoping, that once he realises she is friend not foe, he will not try to chase her.
Any advice here, would be most welcome....Thank you!
