Wow has anyone heard of this? Amazing :o)

I belong to my small breed site as well as DW I was amazed to read this post..I have whelped many bitches of different breeds but have not come across this before, for a number of reasons I would not have thought this possible. Would be interested to hear you comment and experiences to take back to Izzy...thank you

Message:
I have a mini who is due to whelp in approximately 7 days. This morning while she was lying beside my bed I thought I heard a small whimpering, bark coming from under my bed. My reaction was to look under the bed to see whether my bitch had started whelping before time (this is the first time I have bred her!). However, no new borns were to be seen in the room but I continued to hear the same noise. My husband and I suddently relised that it was coming from my bitch's tummy! Is this possible? Has anybody experienced the above?

I would be most grateful to hear

I'd have thought 'air' was needed for a bark? (bark via lungs)
It doesnt sound quite right to me

..quite right Azz the sack surrounding the puppy is filled with fluid and if the pup tried to make a noise the fluid would fill its mouth and stifle the noise..I think it was wind however did not want to offend by dismissing it so thought I would see what others think.

My girls get a lot of gurgling in their tummies when pregnant, but I put it down to wind......lol. definitely not puppies barking though, they struggle once born to make a sound so I don't think they could manage it in a sack filled with water somehow!
