I was of that generation. I was a difficult child (I am told) and taken to the Doctor by my mum, at her wits end. He wrote a letter to the Education authorities to make them take me into school at the age of 4 (a year early). He rightly diagnosed boredom.

My son was diagnosed with OCD when he was 2. He was very obsessed with lining things up, shutting draws etc.

Now he is 7 he has been diagnosed as slightly autistic. I am with Isochick and Hevvur on this in that genetics play a huge part in things. I have aspergers (among other things) and I firmly believe that I have passed my mental health issues down to him, makes me feel terribly guilty
