I have no problem in man eating ANY animal PROVIDED that it has been reared properly and killed humanely.

So the issue I have with some of the practices in the Far East are not to do with eating dog per se, but inhumane way they trap and kill them.
Who's judging anyone? There is nothing wrong with expressing a preference that you personally don't fancy puppy stew.

Totally agree!
I have eaten both rabbit, horse and goat (to name a few), and like you say, as long as they have been reared and killed humanely, I don't see it as a problem.
I have rabbits for pets, and used to breed them, also used to loan a horse, but don't feel as though I'm eating my 'pets'. (I love a good rabbit stew!)

Thats the point though, they are not in a lot of cases humanely reared or in cases humanely killed for food consumption

My personal view as a veggie is that I do find it hypocritical that meat eaters are ok to eat one animal but not another.

Why do you value a dog over a cow or a chicken?

if you think dogs and other animals are reared and slaughtered humanely in China, I suggest you look at the following

warning - includes graphic images and text - this is a sample

*Dogs are purposely slaughtered in front of other dogs, to increase their fear and stress level- as this is supposed to enhance the flavor and increase the adrenaline in their meat, which according to Chinese folklore, boosts virility. Actual physical torture and bleeding them out slowly, are other routine methods used for this purpose.
