Are there any other sufferers out there? I am trying to concieve and just wanted to know if anyone has any advice.

Yes me.......and I have three kids! I was diagnosed before I had the children but luckily I did not have any cysts only the symptoms so did at last manage to conceive.I was about to start invasive tests to find out why I was not conceiving when we found out I was pregnant. After that things seem to settle down and we were advised to go for our second child very quickly before my body fell back into the pattern......Number three followed later but still without the difficulty of the first!

PM me if you want to chat more.....I know sometimes these things are hard to put out into the public arena.

I have cysts on my ovaries, don't know whether this is the same thing you are talking about.
It was picked up during a routine scan when I was pregnant with my eldest son.
I have had trouble though and have suffered multiple miscarriages, however I don't know if this is related to that or not,the hospital did run tests and no reason for them.

Not much help really - Sorry.

I have PCOS. It's not very nice is it?! I know how you feel. I knew I had them as I had every symptom. My GP (male! ) said it was all in my head even though I was covered in acne, trouble losing weight, huge bloating pre period, hirsuitism, the shakes when my blood sugar went low and prone to depression!! Eventually I went to another GP who had me scanned and I have 2 large polycystic ovaries!! Surprised? NOT!!
Anyway, it depends on how regular your periods are. Mine have always been quite regular, more so now I'm older.
If you have regular periods, there is no reason why you shouldn't conceive as you are probably ovulating. If not and you're still not conceiving there is a drug called Clomid (other name Clomiphene) that a specialist can prescribe you. You may know it as the drug that celebs take to have twins!! It's very effective in making the eggs mature and release properly.
There are other ways such as trying to lose weight if you're overweight. This reduces the symptoms greatly (easier said than done I know! )
25% of women have PCOS and most don't even know.
It's not the end of the world hun so don't fret.
Also if you go to see your GP, tell them you've been trying 2 years at least so they can get you on a waiting list to see a specialist and while you're waiting....have plenty of fun, if you know what I mean!!
Good luck xxxxx

I have pcos. No kids and when i was diagnosed at 14 i was told it would be very, very unlikely i'd have them, but you never know. Will cross that bridge when we come to it

Cant really help but thought i'd reply anyway. I've been dealing with all of the awful symptoms for 12 years, it gets very depressing, but im so proud of myself (big headed moment here!!) for finally having lost nearly 3 stone this year, i never thought i would shift the weight!! Im told the more weight you can loose the easier the symptoms are to manage and the higher chance of concieving.

Me too, I have it and most of the symptoms, including a really bad pelvic pain!! They have told me it may go to my kidneys and need regular tests for kidney functioning...
I cannot conceive now, I have done (miscarried).. but the doctors can give you hormone tablets..
Good luck hun with conceiving!

Well its nice (kinda) to know im not going through this horrible unfeminine mess on my own, but i do feel for anyone who has it! I am going to make another doctors appointment soon.. I am overweight, i lost 2 stone for my wedding in June, and now 1 stone of that is back! rubbish. I have literally (1 week ago) just come off the contraceptive pill, so it is early days yet... thanks for the support ladies. Its nice that we can all chat about these things! you're not alone!

I have it too, I hate it I go through ups and downs with it, probably like everyone else on this thread! I hate the fact it's so hard to lose weight, and how easy it is to find me!
I have been able to get pregnant once, but it didn't work out and I'm worried about my chances a second time, but it's good to read on here some people have been able to have kids!

Hi everyone, Just a quick update, I had my docs appointment and he sent me to have a blood test which confirmed i am not ovulating at all, I have slightly raised testosterone levels and my progesterone levels are 3.3 and should be around 90 :S So i have been referred to Gynae at local hospital on the 6th Dec.. Fingers crossed they can get us moving a bit!!!

Hope you're all well.

I have it too hun!! It's good that it's been diagnosed. They will probably try a drug called Clomid (clomiphene) to make your eggs mature and release. It's apparently pretty succesful so don't give up hope.....I'm sure you will be fine.
