The Kittens Thread

Firstly, this isn't a debate or discussion or anything of the sort about responsibility and the fact the cat should have been neutered and shouldn't have gotten mated. Accidents DO happen, and in this case have done. And we have done the best we can in the current situation, so please do not turn my picture thread into a big debate please..you don't have to look if you do not want too.

At about quarter past ten pm, on August the 14th Bella went into labour, she had a pretty average birthing and delivered her last kitten at ten to one on the morning of August 15th. She delivered four beautiful babies, in order;A tortie/tabby & white, a white & ginger, a tabby/tortie & white and a ginger tabby. Only a slight hitch, but otherwise a perfect birth. She knew instantly that it was her job as ummy to sort them out. All kittens are doing well, I think we have three girls [the tabby tortie and the white n ginger] and one boy [the ginger], although I'm not positive.
They area day n a bit old now and really doing well, eating well and I think they have already grown!
Bella is doing ever so well, I thought she may get a bit 'all over the place', but she's taken too it like a pro. She's really taken to motherhood and will only leave the nestbox for food IF someone is sat there watching the babies.
Again, my apologies to whomever this may offend. I shall keep the thread up to date with photographs and videos as the kittens grow. There were nine people who offered homes and as at least one, possibly a pair, will stay with us, it goes that they are definatley kittens who at the end of this will have good lifelong homes.
The Happy Family.

Lovely

I must admit I had always thought that ginger cats were always male, but clearly that's wrong

Fabulous Luke... they're absolutely gorgeous!

I've just been doing a quick brush up on cat colour genetics and I think both your reds have to be male and the torties obviously females (with rare exceptions) .... because of sex linkage with the orange gene.

The father could have been any of various colours, but not red (or cream)... and most probably black or tabby. Just my thoughts... would be interested in any Catsey people comments
