Grrrrrrrrr! Shopping day in the glorious metropolis of Kirkwall, so I expect another round of hobbling around the wee shops, only to hear the Orkney Anthem - "We hivnae got any" (Which is marginally better than back in the 80s, when you had to explain what it was you wanted in words of one syllable).

OIne time, Mrs S and I visited just about every shop, looking for pitta breads. Hope was raised in one shop, when the girl said, "Yes! We have some" - and produced a pack of two pizza bases

BTW, if any DW ladies ever make it up here, don't expect a day of retail therapy - you can do the whole town in 20 minutes and have time left for a coffee!

For me, Thursday in town means Friday and Saturday recovering from a tour of Somerfields! Plus, of course, a pile of handouts, to compensate Kali and Snorri for being left behind at home! (It started out as a reward for not wrecking the house - now the little bums bully me unmercifully until they get something, as soon as I get in.)

Just got back from the first walk of the day and I have to say it's bl**dy freezing. They say between 5 and 8 degrees today (which to Snorri is border(!)line *scuse the pun* tropical), but to me is arctic! I've finally given in and put the heating on....now where are those thermals.....
