Dawn, Small Staffie, DOB 07-8 - SW London

Dawn, Small Staffie, DOB 07-8 - SW London

Homing Requirements: Dawn needs a dog experienced family behind her as she has had a really sad life and lacks skills. She needs bags of reassurance and consistency. Dawn needs focus on her housetraining coupled with praise and opportunity. To live as an only pet and no live in children.

Her Story: Dawn was found stray and ran out of time. She has come into us and is currently separated in the house from other dogs but is meeting them outside and learning to relax. She was already spayed and is just going through the vax programme and chip.

Advert: Dawn is coping exceedingly well in a situation where she is learning to relax and achieve a balance between her own company and stimulating encounters and reassuring experiences to build her confidence. She carries a sadness and ineptitude which is strange as she has clearly been spayed, so therefore cared for? She is currently clingy yet is quiet being left and seems to accept her lot. Observant to respect boundaries but so eager for love and caress. She has a desperateness as though she has never had the love she craves. With confidence at the end of her lead she is learning to meet dogs well outside.

Dawn is a pretty little 3-4 year old Staffie, quite novice in her skills, but eager to please and thrives on kindness. She needs time to find her centre ... and signs are she is happy to settle on a comfy chair and enjoy the peace of the garden or in a bed in the window bay looking on the passerby without a murmur bless. Tender sweet soul who needs time and patience and lots of assurance, good quality food and cuddles. Her dawn is here ... is your Dawn here?

An update from Lynne on Dawn:

"We discovered some info. from her chip today firstly her name hence Daisy from now on; Born in 06 so makes her 4 going on 5 this year. She also literally lived next to Paddington Station so must be noise tolerant and very used to traffic, which she is.

Daisy is settled in our front room and hears all the noisy dogs in the house and doesn't make a murmur! She is desperate when you appear to take her into the kitchen or garden or out for a walk but very accepting when she goes back into her room bless. Her housetraining isn’t perfect but she hasn't got a clear routine and she still has a lot of nerves in the situation she finds herself in. We are giving her 2 good quality meals a day and her face was a picture when she was given roast pork tonight ... oh how she savoured it in small pieces bless.

Daisy hasn't had a good life. She carries sadness and apprehension in her make-up. She is settled with her lot and asks for little just needs to embrace and cling to what cuddles she can extract out of her day. Yes she can be left for short periods so could suit a part-time worker or a home worker who needs occasional trips away ... but one does feel she has been left for very long periods alone and that is the last thing we want to offer her now. Daisy is not a first time dog owners dog. She should be an only pet. She has been fine meeting children but will need time to settle and find herself as she can take your hand in her mouth and caress it with her teeth - never a mark left but such is her desperation to make contact and hold the hand that offers her love. She will also hump you even as you walk along trying to have contact and pleading for love, but will leave when told. So no live in children but no-one could ever misinterpret her sense of sharing and caring. Her angst to have contact and curl up on your lap, almost cry with relief and almost disbelief of the warmth of human love”.

Well Daisy had her second vax. She is becoming muzzle tolerant on her walks. She has been taken under Simon, a friends, arm who takes her out and about to build up her confidence. She however is uncomfortable around dogs and so now is the time to get her used to a muzzle so she can begin to relax in their company. Daisy is fine to be left, quiet and non destructive. She is learning not to mouth on meeting and has stopped humping which initially was a feature. She plays with toys by herself and will sit in the garden for hours just enjoying the peace.

A dear girl who gives you her heart and to everyone she meets. Her only issue is concern around dogs which will affect her homing prospects sadly, but anyone considering Daisy as potential dog would be gaining a terrific beautiful girl and would never regret investing in her.

We discovered some info from her chip today. Firstly her name hence Daisy from now on, born in 06 so makes her 4 going on 5 this year. She also literally lived next to Paddington Station so must be noise tolerant and very used to traffic, which she is.

Daisy is still available for adoption. If you are interested in re-homing Daisy please complete our homing questionnaire on this link: https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/r7x3s5/ so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

We found out from her microchipped that Dawn’s original name is Daisy so we have reverted back to it.

Here is an update from her foster mum Lynne …

“Daisy has settled into her routine of spending most of the day in our garden by herself, often playing with items. She has a habit of lifting a collar or a lead and taking it on the chair with her she never chews it, it’s just for company. Or she is in our front lounge which is also her bedroom; she is separated in the house as her dog skills are still very 'on edge'. She is still employs her mouth to grasp your hand or arm, as a form of handshake; we are still trying to discourage this and encourage licking instead.

Out on a walk she is more relaxed but we slip a mesh muzzle on if we see a dog so we can mix her and have no fears she will get frightened. Most of the time she is off muzzle though and enjoying as we live in a low dog density area”.

An update from Lynne on Daisy ...

"

"It took all my courage today to go into Daisy's kennel and look her in the eyes. She was fostered in our home for many months but we have needed to offer that precious foster place to Mackie at the moment as he is disabled. She did show me immediate recognition and the rapport between us was intense and heart breaking. Off we went on our walk to enjoy 50 mins together. How beautiful she is, how sincere is her personality. She has come along way since we took her in and in the right hands she will develop confidence and begin to drop her current neediness. Her emotions are intense but then her circumstance are far from good. If only my house wasn't already full to bursting. Our parting was equally traumatic for both"!

Daisy is currently in boarding kennels and available for foster until her forever home comes along.
