they have some gorgeous dresses, in their sample sale, meaning you can have them straight away..i got mine from there....
if you are between a size 10-14 you may not encounter too many problems getting a dress at short notice...
have you looked at Marks and Spencer....(easy now helen!
...)or BHS or debenhams...they do some lovely dresses you can pick up straight away...

Pretty woman @ Abbeyhill, is great but might struggle to supply you with a dress with 6 weeks to go.
There are some lovely shops in Morningside - a couple down at the bottom which are dress designers but have stock too - all a bit individual, might be worth a try.
There is also a lovely shop on William Street in city centre - which i have walked past but cant for the life of me remember whats its called.
Is it a wedding dress or just a really lovely dress you want - what sort of style/colour etc were you thinking of ?
shoes - will it not be wellies if its at the top of a hill in scotland in summer ?? LOL
