When I came off the pill I never had a period for about a year and was told it can take that long for everything to settle again.
You should get your GP to check your hormone levels.

I would expect that being ON the pill, but not off it? That's why I stopped it, I couldn't stand feeling like that and fat and bloated with it! This doesn't feel right to me, but if you've been told it's normal I don't know what else to suggest?

What were they saying about it being 'normal' again
