Can anyone recommend a harness ?

We need a harness with a chest strap, it is going to be used to help Mollie in and out of the car so either something to hold on top or to the side. She just needs a lift up and to be steadied on her way down. Will be used on stairs too as she gets older I think.

See loads with a strap near the neck but steadying her on the way out of the car we don't want to strangle her

Before anyone suggests ramps - we have one she simple refuses to use and we have tried steps but due to size and weight of them I couldn't manage them when I am on my own with the dogs.

I would suggest either the EzyDog Quick Fit harness

or the ComfortFlex Sports harness.

I have both makes for Pereg but prefer the ComfortFlex even though it is more expensive as it is softer and more padded - essential as she wears it all day. In addition the strap under her chest is also padded, which the EzyDog is not.

Both are the same style of harness though, and both have the loop "handle" on the top.

This will only be used to get her in and out of the car etc - can't imagine she will ever need one on all the time, just being nosey why does your dog need one all the time ?

Because the door is open all the time [except when it is raining] and she is clipped onto a 12m length of rope which is attached to the wall just inside my front door. My yard is not [and cannot be] fenced in and the rope means can come and go as she pleases - has plenty of room to rush around if she wants, but cannot get onto the pavement so is safe. It is also long enough that she can get through most of my bungalow except into my bedroom.

She is, of course, unclipped when the door is closed and locked, and her harness comes off when we go to bed.

When she is indoors she is usually sprawled against my front wheel, looking out of the doorway watching the world go by!

[and ready to rush out if a c-a-t dares to come into the yard!]

Well I guess that works for you, when we have the front door open we have a tall baby gate (dog gate I think it was originally) we place in the doorway, that way we get air and heat can escape but dogs are kept safely inside. Only time we have used a tie in method was when camping so we stopped camping as it seemed too restrictive for the dogs really.
