The house that costs 15 per year to run

Why isn't the govt forcing house builders to build to this standard?

An architect has designed a house which costs just 15 ($23) per year to heat, light and power.

Colin Usher has built his own four-bedroom home in Merseyside.

Will Batchelor has been looking into how Colin keeps his bills so low.

At a guess, because no one would be able to afford to buy one. That house cost approx 240,000 to build. The guy who had it built is an architect so I imagine he hasn't factored in his bill and that he has built at cost so to speak, ie no profit added on

If they are mass-produced I reckon that would bring the costs down by at least 50K? (Wild guess ) Surely the house builders should be content with 50K profit per house - though fat chance of that lol

Does that figure include the price of the land? The Government doesn't even insist on grey water, ie from showers and baths etc being reused which would be cheap to install in all new builds so fat chance of anything more radical. All Governments pay lip service to green issues but if you want it you can pay for it.

I doubt it included the cost of the land. The guy just said that that's what it cost to build the house so I'm guessing the land cost is on top

My former landlord's brother here used to boast about his new timber framed and solar panelled house and how little it took to heat. Not like the house they rented to me.. that family was very rich; all from cattle. They owned all the land thereabouts.
