The Kennel Club has announced the following changes to its Accredited Breeder Scheme!

The Kennel Club has announced the latest changes to its Accredited Breeder Scheme’s list of requirements and recommendations relevant to each breed, including health screening.

The changes have been brought in following extensive consultation with breed clubs and councils in order to ensure that the health and welfare requirements of the scheme remain relevant to each breed.

SPANIEL (COCKER)

Change requirement:

‘Eye testing – including gonioscopy’ now becomes simply ‘Eye testing’
Add recommendation:

Gonioscopy
Does that mean that they are not requiring Cocker spaniels to have a gonioscopy- just recommending it now?

Assuming by 'Recommendation' - they mean that they suggest it to the people on the scheme, but they do not enforce it?
So if you had a Litter of GSDs and the stud dog was only 12 months - they would still register (as that is only a recommendation)?

Or have I got that completely wrong?

You have it right Tassle a reccommendation is just something that is 'suggested' to be done, it doesnt 'have' to be and if the pups, or parents havent had whats reccommended pups will still be eligable for registrations if all that is required is done.
