None of the dogs I've had have had any adverse affect from being castrated. They seemed right as rain the next day. Never had a dog with hind dew claws but I suppose it would depend on whether they are flappy ones only attached by skin or ones attached by bone.

Frankie was castrated on monday he also had his umbilical hernia fixed at the same time. He was back to normal by tuesday morning and charging around with his collar clouting our shins if we're in his way. He walked to the vets today which is about 20 mins in either direction. The stitches come out next thursday. He should be walked on lead until then although when Syd was done he was out walking in the park (but had to walk to heal off lead) by the 3rd day, so really just be sensible and take it as it comes.
You will probably be given a couple of days worth of pain killers too.

if they think they will try and pull the sititches they will give you a head collar to put on i call it a bucket with no bottom.

they normaly can tell while the dog is recovering with them so i would not worry to much, bless him good luck

That's why they have to wear the collar, and Frankie hated it for the first day, but now he just rams you out of the way. It flippin hurts as well. We take it off when we can watch him but if we have something to do he has to have it on or he would be licking the wound all the time. He's running around playing with the other 2 as normal but Rio keeps trying to pull it off his head

Rjj had his rear dew claws off when he was seven months old-I don't have my dogs castrated BTW-he had bandages on from the Tuesday to the Friday(very attractive shade of blue)he had the bandages off on the Friday & the stitches out on the next Tuesday

You cannot tell he ever had rear dewclaws & he never even looked at the bandages !!- not in the least like him as he is a real chewer !
