Docked Tails and Flies

For anybody who has a dog with a docked tail....Do you have a problem with flies bothering your dogs back end?

Flynn is constantly being harassed by flies buzzing round his bum and yet it's clean as far as I can tell, it really annoys him and he keeps stopping and spinning round trying to get rid of them.

I never had a problem with flies with the Rotties I used to walk. I would say it's probably just Flynn but I noticed on the walk that Nancy the greyhound was getting bothered by them too..

sometimes

I am not sure that its because he is docked though. But sometimes I notice them. It's really annoying!! If he is sniffing he wont move his tail if he hasnt noticed they are there and I end up swipeing at him with a tissue or something and he turns round like; what did I do?.....

If he sees flies he goes after them...they just irritate him I suppose lol

Not a problem here, but then we havent been plagued with loads of flies at all, a few around the light fitting and the odd one that you notice when the dogs stare and watch it.

The collies never get bothered and I assume it's because their bums are covered with thick fur and long, hairy tails yet Flynn's bum has nothing to protect it.

You could always make a prosthetic tail for when he's on summer walks?...
