Update on Amy's Leg

Update from my last post about my Aunties dog titled "Lump On Leg Not Cancer!"

The vets had decided that the lump on Amy's leg was not cancer, and that it was a swelling of some sorts. She was referred to a specialist as the vets were totally baffled!

It turns out that at some stage, Amy had broken her leg. A clean break showed up on the x-rays, but it was not recent and somehow her own vets had missed it! Her leg is twisting when she is walking on it, so she will be undergoing an operation to put a plate into her leg.

It amazes me that neither my Auntie or her vet realised that there was something seriously wrong with her leg a while back but it's happened now

Just have my fingers crossed for the little girl now! I'm not sure at the moment when the operation is booked for but I will keep you all updated

Oh poor Amy. What a shock this must have been. Hard to imagine how a vet would miss this but it does happen. Amy must have concealed her pain a lot when it happened as it must have hurt. Bless her. Let's hope they can sort it for her now they know what it is

Aw the wee soul! I hope the operation goes well for Amy and the plate is inserted. She must have been in pain. Big hugs and kisses from Loki and cuddles from me as well xx

Thanks guys I went round to see her tonight. Poor little mite I haven't actually seen her since the lump was discovered, just heard about it from my Auntie.

When she is walking, she is actually using the bottom of her leg instead of her foot and her leg twists outwards when weight is put through it. The swelling is quite pronounced, about the size of a tennis ball (she's a sheltie).

The operation is booked for 28th June.
