affix

can anyone tell me what this is for? Do you have to have one? can anyone have one? Do you have to do anything to be able to use one?

an affix is the kennel name registered to the breeder who produced the pup.
you don't need to register an affix but if you bred and had an affix of your own it will go before the kc name you gave the pup.
its just a way for people to know whos lines the dog was bred from.
ie my dogs affix is oldholbans so if some one looked they would find the person the affix is registered to and know that the person is the breeder of my lad.
you need to register the affix with the kennel club which its around £70 a year, once its yours you can use it before any pups you bred.
you don't have to have an affix but any pups you produced would only be registered in their kc name with no link to your lines.

Just to clarify, it's £70 to register the affix (kennl name) in the first place, but only £20 a year or £17 if you pay by direct debit, to maintain it.

also any pedigree pup you buy you can add your affix to the end for example all mine are "from morganstar" as thats my affix
