I feel like saying that to my mother! She used to come to training classes with me back in the early 80's where we were taught to prefix every command with the dog's name. Whereas nowadays the dog's name is only used in a happy tone, she still has this habit of growling "Merlinnnnnnn....." in a stern voice at him when he won't come in from the garden. Obeys her like a flash, he does... (not!)

I know a cat called Thornton if that counts? (The owners are American, and like our chocolate!)

Not sure where my parents got the name from.
Barbara Woodhouse perhaps? She had a Great Dane called Juno who featured in many films.

I know of that there are at least two Ivan's and two Kammi's on dogsey, so probably a fair few of those around.

I've not come accross another Hope, but it's not that an unusual a name.

I've yet to met or hear of another Gretchen.... I can only think knowing this one as I do that this is not a bad thing...

My dogs are named Dex and JJigae
Some pets I know with interesting names are:
"Moon" after the nickname of a close friend who passed.
"Rocky Bowboa" a rottie-mix
"Nutjob" a cat who earned the name by being a little whacky
