Could be jammed. The front `sections` of PCs are removeable. Or you can unscrew the case and look?

You also have a release key,a tiny little dot on some you can press with a pin head ...
Is it making noise ?

The disc tray on my computer is vertical and it sometimes does not want to open. A light tap on the top of the computer usually does the trick...

Don`t you take the case off and check for dust and doghairs occasionally? Especially with dogs, the fans tend to get clogged.

Ahem - my computer guy hot-glues very thin layers of the stuff you can buy in lengths for scouring pans - sorry, it is called "Scotch" here and comes in metre lengths but no idea what you call it. Anyhow, cuts lengths to fit all ventilation areas, then splits the stuff into thin layers, and hot-glues it inside each ventilation area. Hole, gap, whatever.

That way no dust and/or dog hairs can get into the actual computer.

All I need to do is get my mini vacuum cleaner to go over the ventilation wotsits and suck out the dust.

You do not want to know what the inside of my them computer was like before he started doing it, which was before I stopped smoking...
