TRIPE

hi guys, i gave indie tripe today. It smells like horse sh*t. Seriously! and i found bits of paper and string mixed with it. Is it meant to smell that way????? IT was so bad it stunk the whole house out!!
Is it good for her? It says its beef mince. But it smells like its just been rotting away on the slaughterhouse floors for a few months then frozen

oh yes it's disgusting!!!!!!!!!! and watch out for her farts! boy will they smell! I stopped feeding Rocky it cos he got worms whilst he was on it and as I 'know' he had not been 'sniffing' any other dogs poo etc, I got a sneaky suspicion he got it from the tripe! it smells worse cooked!!

Tripe (I believe) is stomach and intestinal lining - inclusive of the last meal eaten if you go for green tripe

It smells far worse than horse muck, but, shouldn't smell "off" as such. I buy it frozen from my pet store and I believe its sheep tripe and its not too bad. It does attract the flies though! I never, ever cook it, and defrost it in water to reduce the defrost time and the smell. My dogs love it and do very, very well on it

Well, I can't comment cos mine eat horse muck too LOL, and with 4 horses I don't mind the smell of that...I hate the smell of the tripe though - eeeaw.

Where did you get it from? NEVER touch it with your hands LOL

Yep - I mix it with complete food for my danes. What breed is she? Don't worry about the paper. Did you get it frozen in lb bags? Was it washed or green? How often do they get it in? You want it from a reasonably fresh source - my supplier gets a delivery once a week and we pick up 60lb a time.
