Stay of execution for Willis and his bits....

Well, what a few days I have had!

Phoebe, the star that she is, has recovered admirably from the op. Willis, however, has been the biggest pain in the backside in that far from leaving her alone he has been a complete and total s*x pest.

He has been a nightmare to live with...whining, howling, humping, harrassing, drooling, panting, pacing, not eating - worse than I have ever known any male dog with a bitch in season - let alone spayed! I was almost at the point of booking him in to be done today - but I took Phoebe to the vets to see if she had an infection that was provoking him (she didn't) and the vet gave me some valium for Willis

I just gave him 3 and shut him in the front room to calm down - half an hour later and its all gone quiet - bliss

OK, well, he had 3 to start, he was asleep for ten mins after I wrote the message above. Then he had another one, then another 2....and he has still been going beserk.

The vet says to now give him another 4. Thats 10 valium since half 3. I'll let you know how it goes. You can just imagine how bad he is to be fighting off 6 valium.

So what are you going to do? How long will it take before he settles down and adjusts? Did the vet say?

No, they didn't say. They think that in the course of the spay they must have disturbed her ovaries which is producing oestrogen <sp> and she has a slight white discharge which is what is driving him crazy. She has no infection and no raised temperature. I just cannot believe he is going this mad - he's making his life a misery - and ours.

Ten valium later and he's wobbling a bit but he still just took out the stair gate trying to get to her.
