Credit Cards

Ok Im just wondering what peoples opinions are of these, because i have a bank appointment tomorrow and they want to give me a credit card, but my mums like no way, but the lady at the bank says if i dont have one it could ruin chances of a good credit history?????

So should i get one, and just cut in up, or not get one?
im confused!

Honestly your system might be different so dont know about the history thing

But from personal experience........ I cant have a credit card. I simply cant contol my money. I use toomuch, which is also why I am now in so much debt......

So I wouldnt do it. But that's JMHO

If you have a loan or anyhting for your car etc or catalogues- that will count as part of your credit history too- not just credit cards
They are easy to get carried away with if your that way inclined- I have one for *just incase* times. Not used it yet- thank god but I have friends who live on them and owe enormous amounts back

Absolute rubbish....as Lel says catalogues, loans.mortgages etc all count towards you credit rating....sounds like they're trying to 'persuade' you you shouls have one.

Gems - i'm 21, and recently got a credit card.
The people who had my house before me have run up debts to about £70,000, and left without paying them, so the house has really bad credit.

I decided to get a credit card, and i've had it a few months, and been really good.
I use it, but pay it off as soon as I get the bill.
That way, i'm not getting into debt, and my credit rating is getting better. I'm not even paying any interest, as I pay the total off asap!

Just make sure you only spend what you can afford.
I don't use mine in shops, I leave it at home, and only use it when I buy online.
It takes the temptation away, if it's not in your purse.

Don't have a credit card of any sort, never have done, wouldn't trust myself either.....lol.

My sister and her hubby have used them constantly and I think they are probably the cause of their marriage breakdown
