Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing

Anyone used this program to learn to type
when i went for a test at a local employment agency yesterday for a data entry jod i passed with flying colours on the understanding of the software but failed on the typing speed (my accuracy wa 100% though )
I was just wandering if anyone had used thids software to improve their typing and what you thought of it

No not heard of that one Stewart. I learned to type at college when I was sweet 16 We just did a few letters at a time and you never forget it stays with your forever. My next door neighbour was amazed last night how I typed without looking at the keyboard

yeah that's what i need to do
my sister learned when she was younger (she's 40 now)
and she's the same
to do Data Entry i really need to get up to a min of 40 WPM that's what the agency told me at the moment i'm only at 22 WPM
I concentrated more on learning the software

Hi Stew, Yes I have used it, still have it somewhere kicking about. I found it easy to use, the exercises are ok and there are games too which help boost your speed.

Got to say I am still not that fast, 23 wpm, but I only use my computer for pleasure (DW) and Boxer Rescue (Word and Access).

I don't think I paid a lot for it, about 3 or 4 quid. I also have another one 'Typing Pal Essential' which was only about 2 quid form PC World in the clearance basket. Not as good as Mavis Beacon though.

What about getting one of those learn to type books - thats what we learned with at college. We had to concentrate on the asdf ;lkj first and then went on to new letters.

Aww your not old Stewart - you could easily pick it up in no time. Can you actually touch type but you just want to improve your speeds?
