Hi Ceiron, I'm with NTL, and have recently been offered the 4mb Broadband, it comes via the TV set top box.

But I get loads of problems ie, it looses my ISP address and I cant get on the net. So I have to phone them and go through this long procedure to access the net again.

Would the larger version make any difference ?

Hope your pleased with yours though x

God some people are such show-offs aren't they

I only get 1 meg

What does it mean when they say that your phone line only supports 1 meg because really we are paying for 2 meg but Wanadoo (or Orange as they are now called) say my phone line only supports 1 meg. Is there any way I can get it to support 2 meg??

right the settop boxes are pants.lol

ring them up and ask them to come out and fit you a seperate modem, dont let them tell you no.lol

once you have the modem it should be miles better.lol

but in the mean time instead of ringing them up do yo utry turning your set top box off for 30s then turning ti back on ?

workss withthe modems and so might owrk with the set top boxes.

also you have to allow for all the upgrade work too so it might still be a bit iffy now and then, mines been ok though.

check their servie status page too incase they working in your area also.

aye but ntl is fibre optic not copper wire so we get better speed and bandwidth :P

and we ahd our upload speeds upgraded too, bt havent done that and also ours is unlimited and i dunno if bt is, depends what price plan your on.

also yours is up to 8meg, try a speed test and see what speed you actually get, if you get above 5meg u are very lucky.

right what this means is your not very close to a telephoen exchange or you lines a tad dogy or both and therefore they cant give you any faster them 1mb because ti will be highly unstable and will not work.

you have a few options really, switch isp to one that uses adsl max or adsl 2, however you still may only get1mb.

switch to ntl and get cable broadband.

ur in manchester ish area so should be able to get cable ?

lol-Foxy lives ooooop north on the moors where electricity is made by her Hamster called Twinkle on a wheel so the chances of her getting cable tv is pretty low Ceiron...

But agree though about getting a seperate broadband modem for internet and not relying on set top box cause i havent had a single problem with mine!
