What to cut raw bones with?

I'm hoping some of you more experienced raw feeders with small dogs might have an answer to this...

My dog is only 9kg so his evening meal is usually approx 100g of raw meaty bone. He started off having chicken wings but depending on where I got them from, some were huge so I bought some poultry shears from Lakeland - these work well on the chicken bones but since then I've had a delivery from Raw2Paw including lamb bones, which there was no getting through with the shears.

Do I need some sort of meat cleaver? Or a saw?

I want to be able to cut the bones to roughly the right size as Julius does not like giving the bone up halfway through if I try to take it off him for another day (it's the only time he's growled & snarled! I did take the bones off him straight away when he did that, but I don't want to make a habit of making him act like that)

Thanks for any advice

I've used a saw for whole (frozen) rabbits. The other option is to let him have his fill of the bone but rather than take it away from him, trade it for something else (maybe save a few bits of raw liver if he's a favourite - helps counteract the effects of bone too) and get him to leave the bone well alone before you pick it up.

From a H & S point of view, I would rather chance my arm with the 42 teeth of a pug than a hand saw!

Teach your dog that was yours is yours and what is his is yours too!

You are just avoiding a problem which could rear its head again with something else, not everything can be sawn in half...........

I use a large hacksaw like this as my Pug wont tackle a whole chicken wing so I end up cutting into mouth size morsels, funnily enough she has no problem with lamb ribs, go figure.
No idea why the picture wont appear though

A hand saw as shown is really designed for wood, there are not enough teeth for bones, much better would be what is commonly known as a hack saw, these come in two sizes the larger one has replaceable blade about 12 inches long and you can get blades with different numbers of TPI (teeth per inch) I would suggest you go for a fine toothed blade (highest number of TPI) I use 32 TPI and it cuts bones easily. Your OH will know what I'm talking about and even though he is a carpenter I would expect him to have one somewhere. (Hack saws are usually used for cutting metal)
