5 month old Weimaraner pups...Mist and Foggy ..

07-05-12 Mist is 5 month old Weimaraner. She was not sold and her breeder felt they would not keep her or her sister to breed as they could not sell the litter they had. She has not been very handled and will need work. Se shies away from your hands but dances to try to get you to take notice coming up kissing you and then rushing away. She will come along fine in the right home, but this home needs to be dog savvy and willing to put time and effort into ensuring she will turn out a loving soft obedient friend to all.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home ex-breeding dogs where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on adopting ex breeding dogs before you apply.

We will insist she goes to a course of dog training also.

I saw these this morning when I looked at MT site. Its a crying shame that the most important first months of socialising have been wasted by a money grabbing BYB.
Such beautiful dogs, not for the feint hearted but in the right hands they make brilliant companions.

Dont they just. Makes my blood boil, because they are now imprinted with everything that has gone before (or the lack of it). If I had a pound for every time I saw this look on a dogs face I would be a very rich woman.
They are going to be an awful lot of hard work..

Even worse MT will not work with Weimaraner rescue in order to maximise the chances of them being homed suitably.

Shame the breed rescue isnt given a chance to help, even more so with dogs bred in such a situation. Clearly neverous..

Someone else told me this about a couple of other breeds of dogs. I have spoken them before about a couple of dogs (I also work in rescue). They appear to be very blinkered!

Indeed they could pass it around that these two are looking for a home, however there never given the chance to vet homes, selecting suitable homes for a breed they know about and have a varied amount of experience with - I feel its important for new homes to be vetted, and questioned by those that know a breed, even more so you have dogs that are nervous. MT wont hand dogs over, as their then losing out on a donation.
