40yrs of rescue dogs

I have had 3 rescue dogs inthe past 40 years.
no.1 was given to battersea dogs home,I took her and she lived until she was 15yrs.
no.2 also from battersea, was a poor pathetic stray, with wealds on her back, from obvious beatings,I took her and she lived until she was 15.5 yrs.
no3 was found living rough in the welsh mountains,it took the dog warden 2 months to catch her,Itook her and we have had her for 10+ years, she is aprox 12,and has only a month or two to live, as she has luekemia.I am so sad,I can't sleep, and she keeps giving me knowing looks. It is heart breaking.

My heart goes out to you hun, it really does.
I have rescued dogs too, and they break your heart, i have always found myself wishing that I had found them sooner....so they never experienced any cruelty....but if you can try and look on the positive side, without you finding them, they most likely would never of known love.
And that was what you gave them....Love, happiness, security, food, your time, and your passion.

I am sure thats has meant so much xxxxxx god bless you

I am so sorry to hear that your girl has leukemia.

But just think, she has had at least 10 more years than she would have had if you hadn't taken her in...and I have no doubt that those years have been filled with love and happiness

(PS, love your username, Gytha)

Bless your heart for taking in the waifs and strays *hugs*
Sorry to hear how your girl is now, but you have given her a life beyond her dreams. Sadly they all leave us miles too soon, no matter the age. *hugs*

Thinking of you-I have had 3 rescue labs. over the past years-Hatti is my girl at the moment-you give so much to them but they always seem to give 100 times more back to you-it still breaks your heart though when they become so poorly but I'm sure you have some very happy and special memories x

The short life span is really the ONLY drawback to owning and loving dogs isn't it. So sorry to hear about your girl.
