I have an on-line friend who has just retired after 30 years as a vet; she tells me that older Border Collies are liable to have "strokes", but that she has never seen it happen to a dog who was getting stuff called "Vivitonin". My Kali has been getting it for over a year now, and his demeanour is generally brighter (can't put my finger on it, he just seems to be a bit more "with it"). It costs a small fortune from a vet (mine charges £46/packet, about a month's worth), but you can get it online for a lot less (even if it is shipped from Tahiti!) -

It might be worth asking the vet if vivitonin would do any good at this stage!
