Any tips on removing fleas?

Hi

Yesterday when combing Bella (after combing Luna) I discovered something I would think is a flea, and tried to put the black spots on wet paper and sure enough it left red spots!
What am I going to do to remove these crom dog and home?

This is the first time I have to deal with this. Luna has been "dribbled" with Frontline a couple of months ago, and I can't find any fleas or fleadirt on her. But I'm probablely going to wash her in some fleashampoo, when I wash Bella.

But what do I do? Any tips and ideas?

Thank god I'm not moving 'till monday!

Jeanette

I think frontline and Stronghold are meant to be the best treatment and also you could try indorex spray around the house - supposed to kill any little blighters that may be in carpets etc and kill any pupating eggs - supposed to last for 12 months too

Something a bit cheaper than that guy's.

If you put a warm bowl of soapy water next to your dogs bed at night, preferably with a night light or lamp close by, the fleas jump from the dog inot the bowl of soapy water and hey presto fleas are no longer there. You can also get rid of them if you feed your dog a combination of brewer's yeast and garlic everyday, pets love it fleas don't.

To get rid of them from your house you can use aromatic herb teas such as, pennyroyal, peppermint or spearmint. Put one quarter cup of dried herb into one quart of boiling water let steep covered for about 15 minutes then mop it into your floorboards or hard floors. You could also use a cleaner containing lemon fresh or citronella.

I wash my tiled floors with the stuff and have never had an infestation of fleas yet!!!

Oh wow Staffy - a bowl of soapy water? Am gonna try that if there's anyone left

I went and bought Frontline Vet spray and Frontline Vet pipettes. I've sparayed both dogs and washed all of Luna's blankets and bought a spray to spray the whole house.

So I've been busy most of the day.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

How do you give your dogs garlic?

I tried giving Luna a whole clove of garlic she ate around it! Then I squashed it still she ate around it.

She gets her food dry, so I can't mix it up in her food.

Any ideas?
