Can I just ask... what reason is it that dogs have to be vaccinated? I didn't think they could pass anything to people so am not sure why this is necessary?

I would've loved to do it with mine but as I don't vaccinate every year Eddy, who would've been perfect can't do it

I don't vaccinate mine every year either, plus it seemed that it was me who had to do all the work finding somewhere and it wasn't easy. I felt that they were a bit like the KC took your money to be a member but that was it.

Hopefully it's improved in the last few years?

I am thinking of training my step mum's collie to be a PAT dog - he's wonderful with people and kids, but pulls sometimes on the lead. He's a lovely dog though, everyone loves him!

Just a quick note, the Vaccinations are needed to fulfil the criteria for the insurance that PAT provide that covers you and your dog when visiting.

I Homeopathically vaccinate Jack and they are fine with this as long as you have a letter from the HP Vet, also they will give to dispensation for Vaccs if you have the Tetre tests to prove your dogs are covered, for example some dogs can have adverse reactions to vaccinations.

Hopre that helps.

thanks for that, well gizmo has passed his bronze KC award and is now doing his silver we are hoping that we will cover all he needs to do by the time he is old enough to see if he can be a PAT dog, we already have places that would like us to go there if we pass. thanks again

My Chili is a PAT dog .
She loves people & all the attention she gets on visits.
Our regular visit is to a residential home for the elderly..they have 3 cats, who don't appreciate the visit.
We also do "one offs" to local schools & fetes.
The area co-ordinator liases between clients & myself. All we have to do is turn up clean & tidy.
