If you go to the PAT dogs website and order an info pack that'll tell you everything you need to know.

Dougie looked into it a few years ago, it seemed money money money to gain the cert, my best mate runs a chain of nursing homes though and she love me to take the dogs in for the long term patients she has, so guess I skipped the formal side of it,

No training as such, if your dog is confident and well trained anyway.
Basically you will be assessed by someone in your area. either a PAT assessor or a qualified Vet or nurse. They will go over the dog, make a noise in another room etc. Make sure the dog doesn't jump up. They just make sure the dog is a well behave, good temperament. Then you are passed.
You then have to make sure the dog is fully vaccinated or homoeopathically protected, wormed and protected against fleas. Records are required by the charity and each volunteer is bound to send copies when boosters have been given.

If you send for the pack and look on the website. It lists everything they will test the dog for.

Does anyone have a link to the PAT Test? I would be interested to see how the test compares to the U.S. Therapy dog test.
