It's very unusual for bloat to occur in a small breed, but I'd ring the vet certainly, to find out what's wrong.

I rang the vet and they think its highly unlikely its bloat as he wouldn't be acting as normal, but did add I could be in for a smelly evening.
If I was worried later or he started to act strangely to take him to the emergency vet.
Thankyou everyone for your very fast responses. I have heard so much about bloat but have luckily never experienced it.

Paws crossed here! Distended stomachs are not good no matter what. I know you'll be keeping a very strict eye on him though. All the best.

Glad that the vet does not think it is bloat. I think you may be in for a long night, I know when Max has been poorly in the past I only get a couple of hours sleep as I keep looking at him to make sure he is ok! Big hugs from us. xx

Glad to hear it but keep a close eye on him. Apart from swelling up all fat, Breagh was acting perfectly normally.

Bev, I know the vet has decided its probably not bloat but he can`t be sure over the phone, and if it is bloat, time is of the essence.
You know Ben, the bouncy young Lab owned by Sophie`s handler ?
He died last week - of bloat - he had been off colour and his vet did`nt think it was bloat either - by the time Tony saw the full blown symptoms it was too late, Ben did`nt make it to the vets alive
Please consider seeing the vet right now anyway
