Found a lump..

Hi, I have just found a lump on my dog. It is medium sized and I think it is under the skin, it is quite hard to touch but does press in when you poke it. It doesn't seem to hurt my dog but I am really worried and woundered if it is as bad as I am thinking. Any recommendations?

thanks

Most of the time they are fatty lumps and do no harm but obviously will need to be checked by vet. How old is the dog and where is the lump? As they get older a lot of dogs get fatty lumps and only need removing if they grow really big and cause discomfort.

Ask your vet to look at it if you`re worried. Most likely it`s a swelling from a knock or a fatty lump. It could also be a cyst or an insect bite . All these are minor matters. The time to worry IMO is if the lump grows or is painful.

Hi Lizzie

Doubtful whether it is a fatty lump on such a young dog. More likely some kind of bump or strain like ClaireandDaisy said. Still worth having it checked over by a vet though. Good luck - I'm sure everything is fine. xx
