My Pony Was Soooo Good Today!!!

My childrens pony (mine actually, lol) was rescued from a dealer/riding school, where she must have been pretty abused.
We have had her for a year and she is a real sweetie but is cold backed and panics when people try to mount from the ground.
So I always just lift my kids up it saves stressing her out.
But today had a load of kids up yard, and thought she would start panicing with so many people and they all took turns on her, but she was a STAR!!
SO pleased just had to share it!!!

Obviously you have been just what she needed for the last year and is feeling far more settled. Just goes to show what kindness can do, no wonder you are proud.

I never thought I would be able to trust her with kids completly. You know what its like with any rescue animal they can appear fine, but then one little thing can trigger an emotion.

For example when I first got her I had my daughter on her and all I did was stand in front of her (as opposed to the side) didnt pull her or do anything sudden but she just flipped and my little girl fell off.
Never felt so guilty about anything
But can see she trusts us at last

Mares can be very pernickety LOL

Ours can be fab and then just rear (CJ doesn't put up with any of her crap though and waits till she stops and then asks if she's "finished yet" LOL)

Piccies are a must..

It might be worth having her back looked at, just to rule out any pain she might be having which may be causing her behaviour

My pony has been 100% checked. Back, teeth, physio the lot
I am also a BHSAI so would not take any behaviour that was disobediant. I am afraid her problems are phsychological(SP).

And mine is just a naughty 4yr old LOL

Congratulations on your break through with your pony! Like the other posters I would love to see some piccies!

Thats good then. I know lots of people who have problems with their horse's and most of them are back problems.
I'm a BHSAI as well. For my sins.
Its a real shame when it is a phsychological problem. At least she's in the right hands.
