Hand Signals

I'm looking for a list of dog training hand signals, as I'm running out of ideas. Does anyone know of such a list?

Hi,

The best thing I can suggest is to look up American Sign language. We use ASL signs here for both our hearing dog and our deaf dog.

Not sure of a list as such, although maybe there is one out there.

If it's of any interest, I tend to use signals based on luring initially, pretty much. So for example:

Sit is move hand, palm upwards, from near to the knee towards my face

Down is pretty much the opposite, only starting from waist height, palm down.

Wait is a sort of policeman Stop! signal!

Stand is hand moving from a bit lower than waist height, backwards, hand sideways and palm towards the dog.,

Not very well described but I tried

As you progress, the dog will respond to smaller movements of course, which looks cool
