Missy

Here she is out on a walk

My brother got her from a rescue, she was found tied up to a lamp post and was suspected to be used in dog fighting and subjected to abuse as she was found with a lot of scars, some had healed and some were in the process of healing. She also has a small piece of her tongue missing. She had severe separation anxiety and as soon as anybody left the room she would bark non stop 24-7 unless someone was in the room with her.

I must admit it was hard at first not to baby her and cover her with hugs etc. But we didn’t want to make matters worse and now three years later she’s a lovely dog who we adore and we're proud of how far she has come. She still has her moments (but who doesn’t) but we can now leave her on her own in the house without having to worry.

Obviously though when my brother moves out she will go with him as they have an undying bond and we wouldn’t have it any other way as she’s really attached to him. We have decided to get a new puppy/dog.

PS: we’re not getting a new puppy on a whim, I’ve wanted one for ages, ages and ages. I’m still in that research phase any way. Seeing what breed would work best for my lifestyle and that’s if we decide to go down the breeder route and not rescue.

Thank you.

Thanks SLB, Insomnia and Lou. We really are proud of her and spoil her rotten

I have top 10 breeds that I love; but I’ve had to take some of them off. As it wouldn’t be fair because they wouldn’t fit in with my lifestyle.Ideally, a breed that when fully grown will enjoy spending long periods outside with me and can come running with me and will enjoy it. So Looking for a breed that will enjoy around 2/3 hours outdoors.

My heart is tugging at a Weimaraner or Rhodesian Ridgeback. My brother wants a British Bulldog though.

Its hard to believe how these dogs are treated, thankfully you gave her the love she so deserved.
Id go with your own choice of dog, if your brother moving out and taking her with him then you need a dog that suits you and your life style.

Thanks Mcv, It does really get yo you and upsets you to think of what some of those poor dogs go through I think you're right, I'm going to go for a breed that best suits me. My mind keeps changing and I keep falling in love with every breed I see
