Other than having had one before, my reasons for having chosen Border Collies included their size. Not so small that they get trodden on, and not so big that you'd suffer write-off as a result of collision!

My state of disability has to be a consideration now: there are difficulties holding a BC these days, I wouldn't have a lot of success with anything bigger!

I agree Dawn, although I really like IG's I would be very worried about them not being robust enough.

I am sitting here thinking about this one. There are a few breeds I would not consider, but not all for the same reason - all for different reasons

I love many of the larger breed dogs, but am under no illusion I am not fit enough or strong enough to handle them.

I love big/strong breeds but some experiences when i was younger make me willing only to have a dog that I know I could physically manhandle if it ever came to it - e.g. pulling it off another dog (or, worst case scenario a person).

It's something we never ever expect to happen and in a well socialised dog, almost certainly never will, but I could not cope with the guilt if something did go wrong and I couldn't stop it.

The only one I can think of for definite is a Hungarian Puli - I just couldn't live with that sort of coat!

For me it is any small breed as I would be worried about stepping on it, and also any breed that needed loads of grooming as I'm lazy when it comes to things like that.

Hence why I'm a such a dobe fan. No grooming required and when they get dirty out comes the bucket of water. Job done.
